Meet Marilyn Levinson

Friday, March 26, 2010

I am delighted to be part of this year's Vineyard Signing for Literacy. As a writer and former teacher, I strongly believe everyone must be able to read and write in order to get along in our hectic, complex world.

I will be selling copies of two of my novels for children:

RUFUS AND MAGIC RUN AMOK -- an International Reading Association-Children's Book Council Children's Choice -- is about a fourth grader who discovers he has magical powers. Telling himself he's not a witch like his mother and grandmother, Rufus keeps his new abilities a secret. They grow stronger and run out of control, taking him on wild adventures.

In NO BOYS ALLOWED! sixth-grader Cassie Landauer declares war on all males because her father has left the family to marry another woman. Her best friend, Bobby, can't understand why Cassie won't talk to him. Then Great Uncle Harry moves into her house, forcing Cassie to reconsider her position.

Meet Barbara Metzger

Friday, March 19, 2010

Unlike a lot of us, Barbara Metzger didn’t dream of being a romance writer. Back in the 1980’s, Barbara was an artist with paying jobs as a greeting card writer and then, as an editor. One day, she picked up a Georgette Heyer book and fell in love with the light-hearted Regency romance. All too soon she’d devoured every story Georgette had written. And since the author had passed away, not many fun romps in Regency England would be available to entertain Barbara. So she decided to take matters into her own hands and write what she loved. The rest, as they say, is history.

Barbara is now the award-winning author of more than three dozen full length stories, another dozen novellas, plus one contemporary romance. She’s delighted to be making a return appearance to Pindar Vineyard for the Multi-Author Book Signing.

This time around, she’ll be signing copies of her November 2009 release for Signet Eclipse, THE BARGAIN BRIDE:

It was a match not made in heaven, but in pound notes - an arranged engagement between a girl of thirteen and a lord's younger son. Since then, thirteen years have passed, and as her betrothed has been sowing his wild oats, Penny has grown up, grown impatient, and grown resentful. In fact, she's vowed never to marry the man who blighted her life and destroyed her dreams.

Viscount Westfield is happy enough to return the bridal dowry. But one look at Penny and Westfield knows he can never, ever let her go.

Why does Barbara participate in the Vineyard Signing for Literacy? To share the joy of writing and reading, of course! For additional information about Barbara, please visit her website at http://www.barbarametzger.com/

Meet Candace Gold

Sick of you, Gina? Never!

I'm happy to be a part of the annual Pindar Book Signing for Literacy Suffolk. Knowledge gained from reading and writing is the front line for furthering peace and understanding which is most helpful when diverse people have to share the same planet.

I will have on hand to sign several novels and short stories. I have listed a sampling below:

Meet Our Authors: Gina Ardito

Thursday, March 4, 2010

Sick of me yet? Well, you will be--after this.

I thought I'd kick this blog-o-fest off with my own bio, in the hopes it will spark some of our other authors to do the same.

I'm a born and bred Long Islander, grew up in Copiague but now live on the North Shore. I started writing in elementary school but discovered romance novels in junior high and fell in love with the genre. Why? Because a romance novel can incorporate every other writing style: mystery, suspense, comedy, historical, science fiction, etc. and gives you the added bonus of two people finding love. How can you beat that?

Aside from my writing, my greatest passion is my kids. I have a soon-to-be 19 year old daughter and a just-turned 13 year old son. And the one lesson I constantly espouse to them is, "Do what you love; love what you do." That is my secret to success in life.

Which, of course, brings me back to romance writing. I have three lighthearted contemporary romances currently available and will have a fourth novel (my first historical under the name Katherine Brandon) released on May 7--the day before our Vineyard Signing! (Trust me. I'll have copies ready to sell.)

I'm currently the President of Dunes & Dreams RWA, a local chapter of the Romance Writers of America that I co-founded with my two bestest gal-pals, Debora Dennis and Candace Gold.

To whet your appetite, here are the books I'll have available for sale at Pindar Vineyards on Saturday, May 8 from 12-3 pm. I hope you'll stop by, check them out, buy one or two for the special readers in your life.

The Bonds of Matri-money

Renata Moon and Connell MacAllister lost more than a frivolous
lawsuit in a Manhattan courtroom. Paying the settlement will probably force them to close their non-profit business. That is, until they learn about a new survivalist game show set in exotic Bali. Grand prize: one million dollars. The catch? The show is for newlyweds.

Nothing that a quickie marriage--in name only--can't fix. But Renata
and Connell didn't anticipate they'd be linked by handcuffs the entire time they're competing! Soon, spending days and nights with only a few inches of chain between them begins to stir feelings they never knew existed.

Before the competition ends, Renata and Connell will be forced to decide which means more to them: love or money.

A Little Slice of Heaven

An Angel With a Bruised Spirit.
After a humiliating breakup, Gianna Randazzo temporarily works at her
family's pizzeria and rescues the stray cats that appear on her doorstep. Until the night the stray on her doorstep turns out to be a man!

A Devil's Bargain.
With educated speech and sterling manners, Kyle Hayden isn't the average homeless man. Touched by his situation, Gianna offers him a
place to stay and a job. And when he cleans up to reveal a super-hunk,
he's the perfect phony, doting boyfriend to escort Gianna to her ex's
upcoming wedding. Or maybe this time, love could be for real.

Hell Breaks Loose.
Until the truth comes out. For while Gianna dreams of happily ever after, Kyle will soon return to the life he left behind--a life that won't include Gianna. Unless he can regain her trust and show her...

                                                     A Little Slice of Heaven

According to Joe's will, Nicole and Dante must participate in several excursions. After each adventure, a new clue will be presented and
another requirement awaits. Only when they've completed every task in their journey will they discover the treasure meant just for them.

Along the way, Nicole and Dante will be forced to share their secrets
and place their faith in one another. But if they can learn to work
together, they'll discover what's truly important in life.

And maybe, just maybe, they'll find the greatest treasure of all: love.
