Welcome!

As President of Dunes & Dreams RWA, let me offer my thanks for your interest in this very special event. Last year--our first--despite rainy weather and a less-than-perfect date (Father's Day, with the county strawberry festival going on a few miles down the road), our eight participating authors managed to raise $381.00 for Literacy Suffolk.

This year, we're upping the stakes. We've chosen the day before Mother's Day, a more female-geared holiday for our romance author majority; increased the number of participating authors to twelve; and added an extra hour to our appearance time.

Why? Because we've set ourselves a goal. We want a bigger dollar amount on our giant check this year than last. Programs for literacy are sorely needed and severely underfunded. Foreclosures and unemployment rates continue to skyrocket. And those who cannot read or write find it impossible to survive today's economic downturns.

By donating our time and a percentage of our profits, our authors are ensuring a future for Long Island; a future of readers, writers, entrepreneurs, business people, politicians, teachers, and students.

You can help! Come to Pindar Vineyards on Saturday, May 8 between 12 and 3 pm. Buy a book or two (or more!) from one of our very talented authors. Stop by, say hello, meet our chapter members, share some chocolate. Bring me a coffee (milk, no sugar).

We promise to do our part. Your part will help.

Thanks for thinking of us.
